Oscillating between platform and consumer product work is underrated. Platform gives you patience and systems thinking. Consumer gives you fast feedback loops and user empathy. Having both makes you a better PM.

The same is true for designers. Some of the most sophisticated design thinking I've seen came from people who'd done time in both worlds — they knew how to build for scale *and* still sweat the moment of truth when a real human shows up.
