Best YC interview question: 'What have you done since you applied?' The application was 1-2 months ago. The answer should be a long list of things accomplished. If it's not, that tells you everything.

To apply to YC you don't need to know anyone there. The whole point of the application process is that you can become an insider in Silicon Valley without knowing anybody. They read and treat all applications equally.

The worst thing that can happen to a startup isn't people hating your product — it's that they're completely indifferent. Indifference doesn't mean you failed. It means they were busy. You always get a second chance.
